Individual assessment of Non-nuclear Energy projects
The first volume containing information on over one hundred projects completed under the EU's specific RTD programme in the field of Non-nuclear Energy (JOULE II, 1990-1994) has recently been published by the European Commission, DG XII. The objective of the programme was to contribute to the development of economically viable and environmentally safer energy options and energy saving technologies. The compilation of projects has been prepared as a reference source for industrialists, researchers, policy-makers and others who have an interest in the research outputs from non-nuclear energy research programmes. The projects described in the publication are arranged according to the four RTD areas covered by the JOULE II programme. These were: - Analysis of strategy and modelling; - Minimum emission power production from fossil fuels; - Energy utilisation and conservation; - Renewable energy sources. Each project entry contains brief details on the background to each project, the work carried out and the results obtained. Information is also provided on the dissemination and commercialisation activities that have taken place, both during the course of the project and on the completion of the project. In addition, contact details for the coordinator of each of the projects is also provided.
