Towards an ICT Infrastructure for Energy-positive Neighbourhoods
European Large Scale Actions (ELSA) Thematic Working Group on ICT for energy efficiency
The ELSA Thematic Working Group on ICT for energy efficiency is organised against the background of a Communication adopted in March 2009 "A Strategy for ICT R&D and Innovation in Europe: Raising the Game" which proposes the launch of European Large Scale Actions. One of 3 areas in which this approach is proposed to be applied is "innovative ICT solutions for energy efficiency".
The Commission has set up a Thematic Working Group to advise on actions needed at European and national levels to make ELSAs a reality, that is, to build and sustain bridges between ICT R&D, innovation and other relevant public policies in order to address key societal challenges. The report from the Group will be debated on 10-11 November 2009 at Visby, Gotland, at the National ICT Research Directors Forum meeting organised by the Commission and the Swedish Presidency of the Union.
