ICT for Sustainable Growth

The Information Society and Media Directorate-General of the European Commission aims to make sure ICTs contribute to the development of a more sustainable Europe and to attaining the EU's climate and energy goals of expanding the use of renewable energies, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing energy efficiency by 20% by 2020.

The Commission is, therefore, pursuing a wide variety of activities to advance the contribution of ICT in the areas of Energy Efficiency of the ICT Sector, Energy Efficient Buildings, Smart Cities, Smart Electricity Grids and Smart Metering, Climate Change Management, Water Management.
