Unravelling the non-perturbative structure of Gauge Theory

Objective

This proposal aims to examine non-perturbative properties of gauge theories with little or no super-symmetry using modern string theory tools. In particular, I propose to investigate stringy, non-super-symmetric aspects of gauge/string dualities using the newly developed semi-classical approach to these dualities. This method gives a handle on previously inaccessible regions of gauge theories, and will play a key role in unravelling their non-perturbative dynamics. This proposal aims to provide string theory answers to pertinent gauge theory questions, by developing new theoretical approaches and techniques, which will significantly enhance the state of the art in the field.
