During this fellowship we demonstrated that the hyperspectral remote sensor (HRS) on board of the Spot-5 satellite was an outstanding tool to survey the evolution of glacier and ice cap in response to climate change. This finding was significant for the launch of the SPIRIT project (refer to
http://www.spotimage.fr/IPY online) that was running until the end of the international polar year (IPY). Thanks to this project, all the glaciological community could access Spot-5 digital elevation models (DEM) and images for free during the IPY.
