Research Based University Chairs of Excellence - West France

Final Report Summary - RBUCE-W (Research Based University Chairs of Excellence - West France)

The RBUCE WEST mobility program was launched on 1 May 2010 and ended on 30 April 2014 in order to support research in Brittany.
A specific website (www.rbucewest.eu) has been designed for the project.
When funded, the RBUCE WEST total budget was estimated € 11.3 million of which € 4.5 million co-financed by the European Commission in order to fund the mobility of 51 fellow researchers (17 seniors and 34 juniors) within the 4 years of the project. Each selected fellow was proposed a 24-month fellowship.
To achieve this goal, three calls for applications were launched on the RBUCE website advertising 23 fellowships of which 7 did not receive any application. On the 32 applications submitted, 26 were eligible. All in all, there were 26 eligible applications for 16 fellowships.
Among the 26 eligible applications, 22 were positively assessed by 2 to 4 scientific experts as well as by an ethical board. However, 2 applicants did not maintain their applications, 11 were rejected by the host organisations. In total 9 research fellowships were proposed to fellow applicants of whom 4 accepted and 5 turned it down.
At the end of the day, the UEB community hosted 4 fellow researchers: 3 seniors and 1 junior in three different host organisations: Telecom Bretagne, INSA Rennes and Agrocampus Ouest.
All the four fellowships were successfully implemented between April 2011 and April 2012 for a 24-month duration each.
