The role of Fas/FasL in maintenance of vaginal epithelium integrity during HSV-2 infection
Final Report Summary - FASVAG/HSV-2 (The role of Fas/FasL in maintenance of vaginal epithelium integrity during HSV-2 infection)
HSV-2 infection is worldwide problem for women and partially men. Although this project has not been carried out according to the project harmonogram, we still conclude that Fas/FasL pathway in the HSV-2 infected vaginal epithelium participates in regulation of inflammatory response at the initial stage of infection and further recruitment of immune competent cells by influencing production of chemokines and cytokines. Our results can help in better understanding the mechanisms of HSV-2 infection in humans what can lead to discovery of effective therapeutic strategies and new generation of vaccines.
