In ProAct four old and for new member states of the EU (Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, UK, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) join forces in search of best practice of regional innovation policy implementation. The main analytical method is the process of benchmarking in order to summarise the effective tools and methods of regional innovation policy implementation and to explore coordination possibilities between the developed and less developed EU regions innovation policy in general and between the ProAct consortia members in particular. In the project we would like to :(i) Identify the links between regional needs and regional innovation policy formation (ii) Identify and disseminate benchmarks of regional innovation policy implementation (iii) Analyze international relationships of the regions and draw a joint declaration showing concrete steps of how the regional policy makers would like to use the project results in the near future (iv) Publish a book and present the benchmarks for regional innovation policy implementation as well as examples of best practice. Two international thematic workshops and an international conference will be organised. The workshop topics are: regional innovation policy, implementation processes and best regional innovation policy practices. The conference will make a wider publicity of the ProAct network and the book, which summarises the benchmarks as well as the cases of policy practice. Besides, a project website will also be maintained from the second half of the project and a targeted Internet-based communication is also envisaged, in which the ProAct consortia would like to rely on the Innovating Regions network, the ERAWATCH initiative as well as the National Contact Points and other related policy centres.
