An Integrated Computer Modelling Framework for Subject-Specific Cardiovascular Simulation: Applications to Disease Research, Treatment Planning, and Medical Device Design

Final Report Summary - INTEG-CV-SIM (An Integrated Computer Modelling Framework for Subject-Specific Cardiovascular Simulation: Applications to Disease Research, Treatment Planning, and Medical Device Design)

In this project, our aim was to develop advanced modeling tools to bridge the gap between the computational hemodynamics community and clinical applications.
The project consisted of three technical aims. In Aim 1, we developed tools to assimilate imaging data into the simulation workflow. In Aim 2, we developed tools to simulate cardiovascular auto-regulations. Lastly, in Aim 3, we aimed to train a group of medical doctors in the use of advanced computational tools. We have managed to successfully achieve the goals of each of the technical aims. Furthermore, all technical developments of the project have been combined in an open-source software framework called CRIMSON (cardiovascular integrated modeling and simulation), which is already used by numerous groups across the world.
