Information Technology Applied to Quality

Cel

The objective of the ITAQUA project is to take advantage of new and existing information technology to support quality and productivity improvements in manufacturing industries and related services throughout Europe.

ITAQUA integrates quality assurance/quality control (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) software tools which are applicable to the different manufacturing aspects and processes. The main project output will be an integrated IT-based quality management toolset. The ITAQUA results will be non-industry specific and most suitable to small-to-medium enterprises. Its development supports European industry competitiveness through the appliance of integrated QA/QC tools and conformance to quality management standards, procedures and methods. On-going review and analysis will be performed on the QA/QC software tool market.

The ITAQUA project will address:

- quality management requirements
- international quality standard requirements
- data collection and processing
- report generation
- dissemination of quality related information.

Pilot demonstrations are envisaged at a significant number of users sites, covering several industrial sectors such as computer, chemical, car manufacturing, food processing and micro-electronics.

In addition, the project will establish an ITAQUA assessment Centre (IAC) which will be dedicated to the qualification of standard based IT platforms and assessment labelling of quality supporting tools. This centre shall be controlled by the project consortium but independent of any particular company, together with the collaboration of major European associations.
