ArDiagnostic is a Portuguese SME, which provides Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) audits, and Environmental analysis services. We have been working in the development of a disruptive way to improve the monitoring of indoor and outdoor air quality using the Citizen Observatories model as the strategic approach for our business. To this end we aim to prototype, test and commercialise an IoT wearable air quality monitoring system for both professional auditors and citizens.
During the feasibility period we made an updated analysis of the SoA for IAQ solutions in the market and under development. This allowed to redesign the prototype and the plan for its development and demonstration. This includes the identification of partners that will support us in this. We had the assistance of IP experts and confirmed our freedom to operate and the patentability of our innovation.
We made a reassessment of market needs and the regulatory pathways that best accommodates our development. We conducted a study of feedback received from potential end-users of habITAT and similar technologies. We also interviewed IAQ experts operating in the market. With the collective feedbacks we managed to reach a better market-fit with the main risks identified.

IAQ experts from 7 EU countries have confirmed willingness to pay from the sector, and estimate that habITAT offers a potential decrease of costs, regarding current auditing practices. This reduction is possible due to the reduction of needed analyses, the reduction of visits and the reduction of effort in the studies and execution of reports. IAQ companies can increase the gross profit margin and still present a lower cost to clients, thus enhancing their competitiveness in the market.
