Objective It is proposed to develop an on-line expert system to provide advice on the control and operation of a blast furnace. The expert system would be interfaced to existing plant input/output and computer process control equipment. It would use real time data to highlight potentially unstable furnace conditions and provide advice as to how to correct the situation.
