Objective
It has not so far been possible to measure true stress and true elongation on specimens immediately following in-situ melting and resolidification. The values that should be obtainable by this testing method, for example, Young's modulus at elevated temperatures, could be used as input data for mathematical models to calculate the stress distribution and critical elongation during continuous casting. The best available option for plotting the true stress and the elongation could then be calculated on the basis of such measurements.
