Objective
The aim of this work is to develop and validate mathematical models of the twin roll casting process with lateral steel supply to determine optimum casting parameters and improvements in process design, and minimise the need for experimental casts. They will build on other models already developed for flow calculations in tundishes and moulds and prediction of solidification characteristics, and will include effects of irregular solidification in the casting nozzle, stress analysis in the shell, temperature gradients etc.
