Objective Rolling tests will be carried out on an experimental mill and on a production mill in order to investigate the mechanism and degree of surface roughness transfer from work-roll to metallic-coated strip. The following parameters will be varied: steel grade, coating material, strip thickness and width, skin pass reduction, strip tension, rolling speeds, lubrication, roll diameter and drive, surface roughness parameters. A mathematical model of skin pass rolling will be used for data analysis.
