Ziel
To make it easier to use the heat of continuous-cast slabs for direct rolling it is planned to develop a non-destructive ultrasonic testing method. The principle is based on the difference in acoustic impedance, i.e. in ultrasonic response, between a solid and a liquid. The probe, already developed in principle in the course of previous research (7210- GA/413 - 7210-GA/414) is of the dry-coupled pulsed-pressure piezoelectric type. The programme will be in two parts: - study and development of prototype with probe and on-line pilot tests; - installation and assembly on production line.
