Development of a monitoring strategy for determining the responsiblity of iron and steelmaking plants for dust production in their environment

Objective

The main goal of this research is to allow, in the long term, the Community's iron and steelmaking profession to improve dust production in the environment of its plants.

It requires modern measuring means (pile emission factor, dust fallout in the environment) and means adapted to digital simulation of atmospheric transportation of dust in suspension and sedimentable dust. The intermediate goals of the research thus express:
- development of an automatic and continuous device for self-monitoring the emission factor of coal and ore piles;
- development of an automatic and continuous device for measuring dust fallout in the iron and steelmaking environment;
- examination of the validity and adjustment of existing digital models for atmospheric transportation of dust in suspension and sedimentable dust, to be able to simulate the responsibility of iron and steelmaking plants.
