A new smart city climate infrastructure with a capacity for reducing air pollution equivalent to 275 normal trees

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - MossTree (A new smart city climate infrastructure with a capacity for reducing air pollution equivalent to 275 normal trees)

Okres sprawozdawczy: 2017-06-01 do 2017-08-31

Air Pollution is the world’s worst environmental health risk: 7 million people die every year as a result of air pollution exposure. The MossTree is a free standing installation based on moss cultures able to eliminate air pollutants with the filtering capacity equal to 275 trees. The MossTree is based on a patented combination of IoT technology & plants which makes the tree robust and free of regular maintenance while being able to monitor air quality. Our next milestone is the installation of the first MossTree network to showcase the efficiency of our solution to create urban clean air bubbles.
We have performed this Feasibility Study in which the viability of the project has been confirmed after reviewing all the relevant technical, commercial and financial aspects. It has also allowed us to define the work plan and to estimate the project budget, which will be mostly covered by the SME Instrument grant. After the execution of the project, the new version of MossTree together with the new business model based on the MossTree Network concept will be launched to the market.
1. Technical Tasks. Work Plan for Ph2 has been defined. The infrastructure and required network of partners to guarantee the execution of the pilot project in the selected city, Berlin, has been prepared.
2. Market Research. Detailed market analysis showing big regional differences within Europe regarding the implementation of Air Quality Plans. Analysis of current and expected actions in line with the Smart City Deployments.
3. Strategy Development. Definition of the new business model based on deploying networks of the MossTree instead of individual units.
4. Commercialisation Plan and IPR. Exploitation plan targeting Europe in three stages. Dissemination plan to maximise the impact of the pilot project. New patent already filled.
5. Financial plan. Estimated budget for Ph2: €2.3 million. Updated financial forecast under three different scenarios with revenues surpassing the €200 million in 2024.
With the MossTree we aim at bringing clean and cool air to the cities thus allowing people living in urban areas to live more healthily. The reference of having successfully installed our first MossTree Network will boost the deployment of our solution in other European cities thus bringing clear air to millions of European citizens. We expect to become the reference company for installing vertical walls in urban environments with up to 300 MossTree Networks installed only in Europe in 2024.
