Lightweight switchable smart solutions for energy saving large windows and glass façades

Deliverables

Improved testing methodology and characterisation procedures for long-term performance assessment of EC/TC windows

Report on refined and improved characterisation metrology and test methodology to determine long term performance of energy smart windows to be made available to public as open access white paper or journal article

Specification sheets for energy smart IGUs

Requirements from building design, comfort, safety regulations and building energy consumption directives will be translated to a technical specification sheet (report) including targeted transmission spectrum, color rendering index, weight, mounting aspects, consequences for materials use, etc.

Specifications for virtual demonstration cases

Report with a definition and specification of representative virtual buildings for which the Energy Saving Potential of Switch2Save Technology will be modelled, calculated and optimised through active switching protocols.

Energy smart IGU fulfilling the specification of D1.1 with an U-value < 0.7 W/(m²K) and at least VLT modulation of 50% to 10% and g-value modulation from 30% to 15%; as well as < 2% weight increase compared to SoA low-E IGU (1st generation based on EC)

Prototypes of insulating glass units IGU that are equipped with both electrochromic and thermochromic materials fulfilling the specification of D11 The report to be submitted will include the electrical optical and thermal transport properties of the IGUs The IGU prototypes will be made visible to a wider public through Switch2Save Events conferences and trade fairs

Uniform TC thin glass samples (<±5% deviation) with switching temperature < 30°C (within interval of ± 2K); and with VLT > 60% and Tsol ≥10%; TC thin glass device dimensions: 1000 x 300 mm² (sheets); 4000 x 300 mm² (rolls)

Operational thermochromic thin glass samples verified against the specification of D11

Energy efficient EC-device fulfilling D1.1 specification, VLT modulation < 10 % to > 70 %; g-value modulation <10% to 50% demonstrated on 1500 x 5000 mm²

Operational large-area electrochromic cells on polymer webs fulfilling the requirements of D1.1. The submittable report will include electrical parameters and performance data of the cells. The Demonstrator will be made available to the public through Switch2Save events and Conference or trade fair visits.
