Self advocacy training initiatives

Cel

Research has highlighted the difficulties people with learning difficulties have getting information about vocational training. It has also shown that training delivery is often inaccessible to people with learning difficulties where there is too much reliance on the written word.

This project is aimed at improving the quality and effectiveness of vocational training measures for adults with learning difficulties. It will pilot the use of multimedia approaches to training delivery and learning, with particular reference to the use of video. By 1999 it will produce a quarterly video magazine or newsletter. It will also produce a set of quality standards to promote effective use of video as a communication medium throughout member states.

Impact
The project will bolster the employment opportunities of people with learning difficulties. Their involvement in design, implementation and evaluation of the project itself will increase the relevance of the results.
