Objectif The objectives for the project are: to provide a set of techniques that can produce evidence that the risk associated with software used in process control applications is acceptable, and support risk reduction activities during the system development process to incorporate the safety analysis techniques into the software development process to provide guidelines on the application of the techniques which take into account existing development practices of the targeted industries (i.e. nuclear and railway). Case studies will play a central role in the research programme, and will be used to confirm the appropriateness of the established criteria, guide and evaluate the work on formalising safety analysis techniques and developing novel safety analysis techniques. INFORMATION DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES AND EXPLOITATION Results of the project will be applied directly by the industrial partners of the consortium; by providing training or training material for external organisations, including those from industrial sectors other than railway and nuclear; and by providing input to standardisation bodies.
