INTEGRATED COGENERATION PLANT FOR ROTORGRAVURE PRINTING WORKS

Ziel

Existing steam generating installation in a rotogravure printing work consisting of a heat tube boiler and a steam generator is completed by 2 cogenerative units and by steam storage.
An installation has been developed which meets the expectations of the principal party. The complexity of this extensive project to produce steam by means of 2 cogenerative-units parallel to a steam boiler and/or steam generator, the application of a building control system as overall management and the automation of the toluene retention does not detract from the results, namely :

- economy :
reduction of staffing costs by means of automation of toluene retention, also reduced purchasing of toluene through higher efficiency (79-89%), reduction of energy (electricity) costs by thermal power coupling, 74,7% of the purchase price (excluding steam production!).

- energy saving :
reduction of gas and electricity due to integral regulation and steering of the building control system and less gas consumption through a higher output of the generator and release of heat (energy) in the form of steam.

- environmental advantage :
Due to higher output of toluene, less toluene emissionin the environment and the higher efficiency of the generator means a lower emission of exhaust gases.

- lean burn motor-generator plant :
100% taxation is no problem, neither a temporary 110% taxation. Due to aforesaid complexity of the matter, the planned period and the estimated cost are surpassed. The result is however sufficiently positive and therefore it is guaranteed an economically viable proposition and there are sufficient reasons to encourage similar projects.
Produced steam supplies paper humidification, toluene recovery process and heating. In order to harmonize steam supply and demand, the toluene recovery process is to be equipped with a new measuring/sampling forecasting system.
Innovation : integration of CHP in printing works.
