N2O abatement by catalytic treatment

Risultati finali

Summary: The ADCAT Process is a method for selective removal of N2O from off-gases. The method is simple and cost-efficient. However, no suitable sorbens/catalyst was found during this research project. Description of Result: The principle of the ADCAT Process is to absorb N2O selectively from an off-gas at exhaust temperature. The adsorbed N2O is subsequently decomposed by heat treatment. The material used is both a sorbent ( in the first part of the process) and a catalyst (in the first part of the process) and a catalyst (in the second part of the process). The critical amount of N2O adsorption in order to make the process economically feasible was 5 wt% N2O adsorbed on the material. However, no material was found that accomplishes this goal. The best materials found in this project reached 2 wt% under favourable conditions. The partners involved in this part of the research project did not have the impression that a suitable material could be found within the time frame of the project
