Exploitable results Parameterization of environmental and physiological controls of VOC emissions from European forests Summary: The major exploitable result of the ECOVOC project is an information system on BVOC emissions from major European forest types, which is accessible through the internet (www.eurovoc.jrc.it). The activities were focused on oaks and on conifers, each including a representative of mid-latitude and of Mediterranean origin of the principal emitter types. Major components of the information system are: (1) an emission factor database and screening of tree species not investigated yet, (2) a new understanding of metabolic controls and emission pathways, (3) new parameterization of enzymatic controls over emissions, (4) new parameterization of light, temperature, drought controls, (5) in-field validation of diurnal and seasonal emission course in Mediterranean and Central European forests, (6) screening of European tree species for carbonyl-emissions.
