Objective TO QUANTIFY THE REDUCTION OF THE GROWTH OF ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE PLANTS EXPOSED TO SMALL CONCENTRATIONS OF SO2, NOX, AND O3 FOR LONG PERIODS. IN THE VICINITY OF LONDON AREA AND IN RURAL SITE FURTHER AWAY, PLANTS WILL BE GROWN IN AMBIENT AIR AND IN CHAMBERS IN WHICH THE AIR POLLUTANTS ARE FILTERED OUT TO COMPARE THE EFFECTS ON PLANT YIELD, ON A LONG TERM EXPOSURE TO AMBIENT CONCENTRATIONS OF SO2, NOX AND O3. CONTINUOUS MONITORING OF THESE POLLUTANTS IN THE TWO STATIONS WILL BE ENSURED DURING THE WHOLE PERIOD AND THE PLANT GROWTH WILL BE ASSESSED AT MONTHLY INTERVALS.
