EFFECTS OF NOISE EXPOSURE ON BLOOD PRESSURE

TO ASSESS IF THERE IS ANY CORRELATION BETWEEN NOISE EXPOSURE AND BLOOD PRESSURE IN HUMAN BEINGS.

A PREVIOUS STUDY DEMONSTRATED THAT HIGH NOISE LEVELS INCREASED THE CHANCE OF HYPERTENSION.

A LONGITUDINAL RESEARCH WILL FOLLOW FOR 3 YEARS 150 PERSONS FROM THAT SURVEY TO DETERMINE THE NOISE EXPOSURES AT WORK AND AT HOME AND TO CORRELATE THEM TO THE BLOOD PRESSURE. A VARIETY OF PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS WILL BE ALSO INVESTIGATED FOR THEIR EFFECTS ON BLOOD PRESSURE.

ANOTHER COMPLEMENTARY CONTRACT IS STUDYING THE CORRELATIONS BETWEEN NOISE EXPOSURE AND ISCHAEMIC HEART DISEASES (CONTRACT NO ENV-563-D).
