Developing a new concept 'clean-lead' factory for europe

Objective

There is a challenge for the European lead secondary industries for the new century, which is to change their negative image by developing and implementing new clean and eco-efficient technologies. This is the principal aim of the proposed "Clean-lead" technology within this project. The processing industry for used car batteries is a major activity with about 1.5 million t/y being treated nowadays in Europe. Existing treatment processes used in this industry present serious technological deficiencies that can be improved with the development of the new "Clean-lead" technology, which pursuits zero- waste production and reduces the use of energy and resources in all phases of their life. The complete new process will use minimal energy, virtually no raw materials, generate zero waste and consequently greatly reduce the operating cost.
