Advanced network architecture for in-flight cabin systems (future aircraft optimised cabin systems) - ANAIS -

Obiettivo

Aircraft In-flight Cabin Systems (IFCS) consist of a set of proposed virtual services (electronic business, airline information, Audio/Video-on-demand, ground Internet and phone access), at the passenger seat, provided through an aircraft data network and a server. The ANAIS project will research, define, realise, and validate a technological test-bed for new IFC systems based on aircraft-efficient concept, for:
- reduced fuel consumption (by reducing system weight and power consumption), thus extending the equipment to all aircraft seat classes,
- user friendliness, ergonomics, comfort, and passenger environment (in terms of seat integration, active noise control, etc...) for large public access,
- providing all services through one high-speed, fibre-optic, digital network (ATM, or Rthernet).
The project group European industrial partners (2 airlines and 5 equipment suppliers) and a university, who will undertake 6 work packages, resulting in the research, innovation, specification, and realisation of a test bed that will be exhibited at several major aviation exhibitions (e.g. Farnborough, Le Bourget, and Singapore) and EC events.
