OPTIMISATION OF AN INTEGRATED PROCESS FOR THE SORTING OF MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE FOR THE RECOVERY AND VALORISATION OF CHLORATED PLASTIC UPSTREAM OF A MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE INCINERATOR.

TO SORT THE PVC FRACTION IN ORDER TO GUARANTEE A MAXIMUM RECOVERY RATE OF THE PRODUCT AND TO REDUCE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE THE HYDROCHLORIC ACID PRESENT IN THE FLUE GAS.

THE RESEARCH PROGRAMME WILL INTEGRATE THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

- OPTIMISATION OF THE CHLORATED PLASTIC RECUPERATION EQUIPMENT LINE:

. TESTS HAVE ALREADY BEEN UNDERTAKEN ON THE NANCY PLANT; THEY WILL BE SUBJECT TO FURTHER IN-DEPTH STUDY IN ORDER TO SPECIFY IN DETAIL THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT WHICH WILL BE INTEGRATED IN ONE OF THE EXISTING EQUIPMENT LINES IN THE NANCY PLANT.
. START-UP AND ADJUSTMENT OF THE EQUIPMENT LINE WILL BE UNDERTAKEN.
. THE RESULTS OBTAINED WILL BE OPTIMISED AND MEASURED IN THE COURSE OF A SUFFICIENTLY REPRESENTATIVE INDUSTRIAL TEST PROGRAM.

- MEASURES OF THE INCIDENCES ON THE INCINERATION QUALITY:

. MEASURES OF HYDROCHLORIC ACID IN THE FLUE GAS OF THE INCINERATION PLANT DOWNSTREAM OF THE REVALORD SORTING PLANT WILL BE UNDERTAKEN. THE RESULTS OBTAINED FOR REFUSE HAVING HAD ITS PVC CONTENT REDUCED BY THE ABOVE SORTING METHOD AND THOSE OBTAINED FOR RAW UNTREATED REFUSE WILL BE COMPARED.

- A SIGNIFICANT QUANTITY (SEVERAL TONS) OF RECOVERD CHLORATED PLASTIC WILL BE SET ASIDE WITH A VIEW TO UNDERTAKE INDUSTRIAL TESTS WITH THIS PRODUCT ACCORDING TO THE CEPADOUR BAYONNE PLANT TECHNIQUE.

- A GENERAL ECONO-TECHNICOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF THE INTEGRATION OF THE PROCESSES.
