EASILY REMOVABLE HOT-MELT ADHESIVES FOR USE ON REPULPABLE PAPER PRODUCTS AND RELATED PROCESS

Obiettivo

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE RESEARCH IS TO PROVIDE A HOT-MELT ADHESIVE USEFUL FOR PAPER PRODUCTS WHICH DOES NOT FORM STICKY CONTAMINANTS UNDER THE WASTE PAPER RECYCLING PROCESS CONDITIONS.

PHASE 1. TO STUDY NEW THERMOPLASTIC POLYMERS FOR EASILY REMOVABLE, WATER-DISPERSIBLE AND WATER-MOISTENABLE HOT MELT ADHESIVES WHICH, UNDER RECYCLING CONDITIONS OF WASTE PAPER PULP, GIVE RISE TO PARTICLES OR EMULSIONS AND DO NOT LEAVE WITHIN THE DISINTEGRATED FIBRE MASS LARGE LUMPS AND FILMS OF ADHESIVES.

PHASE 2. TO FORMULATE THE NEW POLYMERS WITH ADDITIVES IN ORDER TO PRODUCE AN ADHESIVE COMPOSITION FOR HOT MELT APPLICATIONS HAVING THE REQUIRED PROPERTIES.

PHASE 3. TO APPLY THE FORMULATED ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS TO PAPER SAMPLES IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THEIR BEHAVIOUR DURING THE WASTE PAPER REPULPING PROCESS.

PHASE 4. TO SET UP A PROCESS SUITABLE FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE NEW ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS FROM THE PULP.

PHASE 5. TO EVALUATE PHYSICO-MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE PAPER OBTAINED FROM THE RECYCLED PULP.

PHASE 6. TO PERFORM A TECHNOLOGICAL AND ECONOMICAL EVALUATION OF EACH STEP OF THE RECYCLING PROCESS.
