Verticillium wilt in tree species; developing essential elements for integrated and innovative management strategies

Objectif

Morbidity and mortality due to infections with human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is considerable in Europe and the rest of the world. Unfortunately, approaches to vaccines so far were associated with safety and efficiency problems. This is largely due to the very limited knowledge of immunological parameters associated with protection from HCMV disease as well information on important viral antigens. The proposed program will use a broadly based approach to the rational design of new vaccine strategies against HCMV. In particular, we will perform a detailed study of the immune responses in women vaccinated with a candidate subunit vaccine and compare it to naturally seropositive women. We will further explore a number of viral envelope lipoproteins for their antigen city and yes structural information to design optimal antigens. Finally, we will use recombinant non-infectious viral particles as a completely new antigen delivery system.
