Obiettivo
Two white adipose tissue hormones, adiponectin and lepton, limit entopic lipid accumulation. In obesity adiponectin levels drop and lepton levels increase and lepton "insensitivity" occurs, resulting in entopic lipid accumulation and type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease and low levels of growth hormone perpetuating obesity. Thus, we will evaluate lepton receptor (Ob-Rib) function together with adiponectin concentrations as prognostic/diagnostic tools for the development of age related obesity and diseases. Conjugated linoleum acids (Class) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 Pupas) can decrease entopic lipid and we will evaluate their use in combination, as a natural and novel therapeutic agent to counter obesity related disease. Abdominal WAT is causative in obesity related disease. We will compare differences between abdominal WAT and other depots to identify further mechanisms in obesity related disease.
