TRANSCRIPTIONAL FACTORS REGULATING THE HUMAN APOLIPROTEIN GENES

Objective

ApoAI and apoB-100 are important apolipoproteins involved in cholesterol transport. Our specific aims are:
1) To identify the DNA binding proteins which recognize regulatory regions of human apoAI and apoB-100 genes and to define the binding domains and properties of these proteins.
2) To purify and characterize the nuclear proteins involved in transcritional activation of human apoAI and ApoB-100 genes. 3) To clone and sequence cDNAs encoding the protein factors involved in the transcriptional regulation of human apoAI and apoB-100 genes. 4) To express the cDNA clones encoding the transcriptional factors in vitro and in vivo and define the domains involved in DNA binding and transcriptional activation.
