NEW METHODOLOGY AIMED TO ENHANCE DEEP SEIMIC REFLECTIONS DEFINING THE STATIC CORRECTIONS DUE TO A COMPLEX SHALLOW GEOLOGY

Ziel

The goal of this research project consists in increasing the resolutive power of seismic data by searching and developing new methodologies for the determination of both field and residual static corrections and for the broadening of the frequency content of the data.
The enhancement of seismic signal resolution through the exploitation of two complementary seismic surveys is obtained with techniques of static calculation from geological model in areas of complex surface geology and of a multi wavelet investigation in areas of stratigraphic problems. In field data acquisition new techniques have been experimented with satisfactory results on eight Hydrapulse, four Vibroseis, two Dynamite seismic lines and three geological surveys have been carried on. Static calculation in areas characterised by a particularly complex surface geology is performed within the project through a detailed definition of the geological model of the near surface layers along the acquisition profile. High resolution enhancement for stratigraphic delineation is achieved by merging records acquired with different sources which illuminate the exploration target with wavelets of complementary characteristics better detailing the geological feature.
The project will develop through different steps of studies and experimental works in the filed and in the processing :
1. Data acquisition
2. Data processing
3. Special processing (surface static correction)
4. Synthesis of the tests to get an estimate of velocities and thickness and
to draw conclusions from the seismic results and from the developed methodology.
