The feasibility stage of this industrial pilot project comprised a combination of tasks for defining the specifications and specificity of the project in the light of the results obtained on the methodology pilot project executed under contract TH/05002/76/FR, namely :
- the search for an economic return with the elaboration of less expensive
microemulsion solutions and the optimization of the volume to
be injected
- elaboration of an industrial scale project
- the dimensioning of the panels and the choice of the techniques to prepare
and inject solutions.
The interference tests confirmed the soundness of the site chosen by proving the continuity of the reservoir with no high contrast anisotropy of the permeabilities.
Phase 1 of the programme of work can only be considered as a partial success. On completion of the project, the laboratories proposed a formula, the sulfonate content of which has for obvious economic reasons been halved compared to that of the methodology pilot project covered by contract TH/05002/76/FR. This formula has proved its efficiency in a non-clay medium, but is not yet perfectly suited to the conditions of use at chateaurenard reservoir. Studies of a new microemulsion were continued outside the scope of the contract and the injection of this new microemulsion is covered by contract TH/05028/81/FR.
- Laboratory studies to define the nature and volume of the products to be injected
- Additional reservoir studies so as to position the pilot project panel and to characterize the reservoir by means of interference tests
- Drilling and completion of 5 new wells
- Design of units for producing and injecting the solutions preparing the ground for industrial exploitation stage.
