DESIGN CONSTRUCTION AND TESTS OF A LONG RANGE MANNED SUBMARINE

Objective

The design construction and experimentation of a self contained manned submarine having wide range, long duration and great operating depth.
The correspondance between structure analysis and pressure test carried out on the toroidal hull of the submarine have confirmed the validity of the toroidal structures calculation theory.
The theory tests carried out on the power plant demonstrated that :
- the diesel engine designed for the CEE-22 gst project delivers the same rated power in closed loop as in open circuit.
- It is possible to recover the total amount of oxygen of the exhaust before the combustion products are dumped over board.
Design, construction and fitting of an established operational depth of a submarine, built with toroidal structure navigational crew at atmospheric pressure, operational crew in hyperbaric or atmospheric pressure.
Norwegian companies took part in the activities as subcontractors.
Tasks of the submarine
- saturation lock-in lock-out submarine
- hyperbaric rescue boat
- atmospheric recue submarine
- survey
