Least cost planning at Gaz de Bordeaux

Objective

Use of alternative energy and energy savings in a public distribution of natural gaz
STEP 2 : ACTIONS
The survey concluded to the interest of about thirty specific actions for yearly savings of 130 GWh, (450.109BTU) more than 5 million FF spared user cost and about 7 million FF spared investment for the Company.
PRELIMINARY SURVEY
The planning preparation leads to :
- a detailed analysis of present and future supply of natural gas and the survey of alternative solutions (waste-dump methan and geothermy),
- a survey of actual consumptions and ten-years forecasts according to natural evolutions or effects of commercial actions,
- the determination of general actions towards fuel savings with unchanged end-user service,
- looking for optimum for the consumer as for the Company.

GOALS AND STARTING - (STEP 2)
Beside the necessary accompanying actions in achieving the goals, three main actions are now in progress :
- Information and preliminary training of the company staff,
- First notice to customers, local Authorities and involved partners,
- Delivery to customers of a "Practical Handbook for end-users" designed to lead them to competent advisers.
