Creation and validation of an interactive software for consumers sensibilisation to energy efficiency of domestic appliances

Objective

To develop and validate an interactive software tool in order to provide information to the consumer.
The proposal is not limited to the development of one tool, but proposes its validation through the analysis of the results of a distribution to two samples of population.
It will be necessary to think about some prospects of evolution of the general methodology, the ways of diffusing PLEASE, the manners of getting back information.
The participants aim to develop and validate a tool in order to demonstrate to the consumer the reality of alternative solutions mixing the needs of least cost comfort and the long term interests of the community concerning economic and ecological ressources.

Four main connected objectives are aimed through the creation of an interactive software product, its validation being conducted by using samples of population : information of the consumer, sensibilisation of the consumer, advising the consumer, knowing the consumer. The tool proposed is an interactive software product.

The association of three participants to the proposal will enable to realise a true test using two different samples of population. The first phase will be the development of the tool PLEASE (Promoting Labelling of Efficient Appliances by Software in Europe). The second phase will be the distribution of this tool to study the impact of PLEASE on two samples of population different in several aspects. After the third phase for validation, it will be possible to analyse the whole process and results, and to elaborate some proposals to improve the tool.
