Objetivo THE MOTIVATION FOR THIS WORK IS THE IMPORTANCE TO IDENTIFY QUALITY VARIATIONS IN PARTS FOR DEMANDING END-USES (E.G. LARGE-SCALE SERIAL PRODUCTION OF STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS FOR AUTOMOBILES AND AIRPLANES, AND IMPLANTS FOR BIO-ENGINEERING). THESE KINDS OF SAMPLES SHOULD BE TESTED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND IN A WAY WHERE RELIABILITY IS NOT AFFECTED. TESTS SHOULD BE PERFORMED NOT ONLY BEFORE DELIVERY, BUT ALSO AFTER THESE PARTS HAVE BEEN USED. THIS WAY CRITERIA CAN BE DEVELOPED FOR WEAR AND DETERIORATION, FOR AGEING AS WELL AS FOR CORROSION IN AGGRESSIVE ENVIRONMENTS. ONCE THE MECHANISMS INVOLVED ARE KNOW, THE MATERIAL PROPERTIES CAN BE IMPROVED IN A CONTROLLED WAY. EXPECTED BENEFITS THE INTENDED COOPERATION ALLOWS GREATER ACCESS AND OPTIMAL USAGE OF INSTALLATIONS AND EQUIPMENT IN JOINT EXPERIMENTS. THE FIELD OF APPLICATIONS OF NEW MATERIALS AND NEW METHODS WILL BE EXPLORED AT AN EARLY STAGE TO JOINTLY ACHIEVE OPTIMUM OUTPUT OF RESULTS.
