DEVELOPMENT OF VERY HIGH RESOLUTION REFLECTION SEISMIC DATA ACQUISITION, PROCESSING, AND INVERSION METHODS FOR THE EXPLORATION OF MINERAL DEPOSITS

Objetivo



THE RESOLUTION OF REFLECTION SEISMIC METHODS WILL BE ENHANCED BY INCREASE OF THE SIGNALS'FREQUENCY CONTENT BY MESUREMENTS IN MINE AND IN BOREHOLES WITH A SUITABLE SEISMIC EQUIPEMNT AND BY THE USE OF NEW INVERSION TECHNIQUES. MEASUREMENT AND DATA PROCESSING WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON DIFFERENT MINERAL DEPOSITS.

REFLECTION SEISMIC METHODS HAVE BEEN USED INTENSIVELY IN OIL AND GAS EXPLORATION FOR THE DETECTION OF SPECIAL LARGE SCALE AND DEEP SEDIMENTARY STRUCTURES. DATA ACQUISITION METHODS AND INSTRUMENTS AS WELL AS PROCESSING SYSTEMS CANNOT BE USED UNCHANGED IN MINERAL EXPLORATION. SHALLOW AND COMPLICATED STRUCTURES IN MINERAL PROSPECTION DEMAND HIGH LATERAL AND VERTICAL RESOLUTION.

THE GENERATION AND THE RECEPTION OF HIGH FREQUENCIES UP TO 1,000 HZ AND MORE IS OF PRIMORDIAL IMPORTANCE. COHERENCY AND ABSORPTION LIMIT THE APPLICABILITY OF VERY HIGH FREQUENCY SIGNALS. THE REQUESTED HIGH RESOLUTION FOR DETECTING COMPLEX OREBODIES CANNOT BE ACHIEVED ONLY BY THE INCREASE OF SIGNAL FREQUENCIES. SUPPORT MUST COME FROM NEW INVERSION TECHNIQUES. INVESTIGATIONS^ IS NEED IN HOW MUCH ADDITIONAL RESOLUTION CAN BE GAINED BY INCREASING THE FREQUENCY CONTENT AND/OR BY USING NEW INVERSION TECHNIQUES.

SPECIAL METHODS FOR DATA ACQUISITION AND PROCESSING ARE APPLIED IN ORDER TO SELECT SIGNALS INPINGING FROM CERTAIN DIRECTIONS.

WBK HAS DEVELOPED A MULTICHANNEL SEISMIC DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM FOR IN MINE OPERATION WITH A FREQUENCY RANGE OF 2,000 HZ TOGETHER WITH SPECIAL SIGNAL TRANSDUCER PROBES.
AN EFFICIENT SEISMIC PROCESSING SYSTEMS IN RUN BY WBK FOR DATA PROCESSING.

MEASUREMENT AT A WELL KNOWN DEPOSIT SHALL BE CARRIED OUT TO DEVELOP ADEQUATE RECORDING GEOCHEMITRIES AND TEST DIFFERENT SEISMIC SOURCES.

STANDARD SEISMIC PROCESSES SHALL BE APPLIED FIRST. SPECIAL CARE HAS TO BE TAKEN NOT TO DESTROY OR DISTORT HIGH FREQUENCY SIGNALS DYNAMIC CORRECTIONS AND STACKING PROCESSES.

INVERSION PROCESSES WILL BE DEVELOPED ADDITIONALLY TO INCREASE THE RESOLUTION FOR IRREGULAR STRUCTURES AND STEEPLY DIPPING FEATURES.

ACQUISITION AND PROCESSING TECHNIQUES WILL BE TESTED ON DIFFERENT TYPES OF MINERAL DEPOSITS.
