Objetivo To demonstrate both new design principles to reduce the cost of a polypropylene pipeline, and a new, low cost, easily replaceable, high density polyethylene intake and siphon-valve system.Detailed analysis has indicated that polypropylene pipelines in hydro-electric applications may be safely operated under higher stresses than are currently accepted, resulting in a considerable reduction in installation costs. A polypropylene pipeline operating under higher stresses will be installed, and its performance closely monitored over a two year period. In addition, a novel, easily replicable, floating intake design using High Density Polyethylene material and a siphon break valve will be installed, which will reduce design, construction and materials costs.Head 130 metresFlow 0. 43 m3/sTurbine power 435 kWTurbine PeltonSpeed 500 rpmGenerator asynchronousEnd-use grid connected Programa(s) ENG-ENDEMO C - Programme (EEC) of demonstration projects and industrial pilot projects (EEC) in the energy field, 1985-1989 Tema(s) Data not available Convocatoria de propuestas Data not available Régimen de financiación DEM - Demonstration contracts Coordinador DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Aportación de la UE Sin datos Dirección UNIVERSITY COLLEGE CORK Cork Irlanda Ver en el mapa Coste total Sin datos
