Development of tempered and quenched steels for OCTG with improved mechanical and SSCC resistance (phase 2)

Objetivo

The aim of this research, which represents a logical extension of the previous agreement, is to supply the bases for the development of clean steel with improved to SSCC and to verify that it can be made on an industrial scale of an "acid resistant" high strength material (yield strength better than 800 MPa). The relative importance of the main factors which govern SSCC resistance in V and V-Ti steels which have been precipitation hardened and high-temperature tempered will be assessed in specific tests carried out on laboratory and industrial materials with similar yield strengths but different hydrogen uptakes and different quantities of inclusions at the grain boundaries. The capacity of the materials to take up and release hydrogen will be quantified by electrochemical permeation measurements. Resistance to SSCC will be evaluated by means of a programme of atmospheric testing (solutions saturated in H2S).
