Objetivo New multimedia applications will be supported in the near future by telecomunication satellites, playing an important role in the implantation of the Information Society (IS). This increasing demand in telecomunications services forces the electronics indu stry to develop more sophisticated and powerful systems. And thus, new Computed Aided Design (CAD) tools to design passive microwave circuits are needed to reduce costs and time in the production of such devices and to improve their development. Passive mi crowave devices, namely high-frequency filters, are key components in every communications system. The requirements on such devices are especially demanding in satellite communications, since not only specifications on the electrical properties have to be obeyed, but also mass and volume are obviously rare resources on a satellite and the components have to be optimised accordingly. The use of dielectric loaded cavity filters result in a reduction in size and weight compared to the conventional waveguide fi lters. Another additional advantage of these filters for high-power applications is the thermal stability. For these reasons, the Tecnhical University of Valencia aims to develope an accurate and flexible software tool with a short computational time for t he simulation of dielectric-loaded filters such as combline filters. This CAD tool will fit industry requirements and will mean a great step ahead for European industry. The output of MADREMIA project will take profit of the experience acquiered by the you ng researcher during the previous Marie Curie Action that he joined. Since he made research in the field of passive microwave components CAD tools for satellite comunications, MADREMIA project will be the continuation of his research in this field. Further more, the Technical University of Valencia encourage the young researcher to finish his Ph.D. studies taking advantage of the research and experiencies made during his previous stage.
