Workshop on SmokeFreeBrain pilot projects
The SmokeFreeBrain project basically investigates the best approach and the best technique for smoking cessation in various populations across the Europe. The approaches vary from media actions and presentations through web and smart-phone based application to medicamentous intervention in smoking population. The workshop gathered university and academic audience and physicians from primary and tertiary healthcare institutions at the territory of Northern Serbian Province Vojvodina. Overall there were 84 participants attending the workshop.The pilots regarding media based interventions, smart-phone and web based applications, e-cigarette trials and medicamentous treatments drew most attention. Italian partners presented most effective TV commercials, Spanish colleagues presented the applications and UK researchers presented possibilities and pitfalls of e-cigarette consumption. Possibilities of medical treatments were presented by Greek and Serbian partners. The potential major impact on the local and global communities lays in definition of the best combination of the techniques to conquer one of the most lethal common habits of modern mankind - smoking.
