COMETT 1991 Compendium
The COMETT programme entered in 1990 its second phase (COMETT II,) covering the five-year period 1990-1994 with a budget of approximately ECU 230 million. Subsequently, calls for applications were made in 1990 and 1991. The 1990 call resulted in the creation of 158 University/Enterprise Training Partnerships, UETPs, aiming to define training needs, to set priorities and to involve the partnerships within the sphere of sectoral or regional activities using their existing expertise. Following the 1991 call (restricted; limited to one project per strand for each COMETT II UETP) a total of 393 projects were selected. Of these, 140 concerned transnational student work experience (placements for in excess of 5,000 students) and 54 involved the organization of 124 staff exchanges. In addition, 130 projects for short training courses were scheduled, representing overall more than 1,300 training sessions, plus 69 projects dealing with preparatory visits. A "COMETT 1991 Compendium", recently available, includes all projects accepted under the second call for applications. These are listed by strand, and including the project title, a brief description of the nature of the project and the contact person. Strand Ca projects (short training courses) also provide an indication of planned outputs. COMETT National Information centers are listed, as well as UETPs. Projects are grouped by technology center and also by country of coordinating organization (EC and EFTA). Strand B Furter indexes group Strand B projects by exchange flow, and group projects by coordinating UETPs. Background information on the COMETT II programme plus programme statistics are included, together with a general index at the end of the document. The Compendium will be updated to include the results of the COMETT September 1992 call when these are avalable, and all subsequent calls.
