The Commission of the European Communities issues an open procedure call for proposals in the framework of the TEDIS programme concerned with tasks in the field of EDI development: - To set up a group of authorities responsible for the registration of EDI users in accordance with the protocol of agreement formulated during the preceding phase; - To launch projects involving open EDI interconnectivity platforms based on ISDN; - To make an assessment in the legal sector (in the cases of both existing and potential EDI projects) of the measures taken and legal problems encountered; - In the interests of EDI safety to launch a pilot study of the consequences of the development of open EDI and to develop the EDI messages needed to support third-party certification functions; - To launch a study on the analysis of the impact of EDI in order to assess the desirability of introducing a mechanism for coordinating, at European level, the EDI-based relationship between economic operators. Community financial support is available for selected projects designed to improve the situation in the above fields in Europe.
