RTD programme in the field of industrial and materials technologies
The Commission submitted on 14 December 1990 an amended proposal (COM(90) 673) for a Council Decision concerning a specific RTD programme in the field of industrial and materials technologies (1990-1994). The programme is to be adopted from the date of publication of the Decision in the Official Journal until 31 December 1994. Total Community funds estimated as necessary for execution of the programme are ECU 784 million. Two areas are encompassed: Materials and raw materials (to advance the performance of raw materials production, recycling, and new and improved materials and their processing); design and manufacturing (optimization of design and manufacturing techniques, inter alia in conjunction with the computer integrated manufacturing element of the information technology (IT) programme). A new two-stage procedure for projects shall be introduced, on an exceptional and partial basis.
