The European Commission (Directorate-General for Industry) has issued a call for proposals for projects designed to assess the progress made under phase II (1991-1994) of the Trade Electronic Data Interchange Systems (TEDIS) programme. The proposals must cover every point mentioned under the specific headings below: - Standardization: The influence of TEDIS on (a) the development and use of the EDIFACT standard, and (b) the availability and use of conventional software and its conformity to this standard. - Interconnectivity of EDI services: TEDIS impact on the capacity of data networks to operate together and the availability of Europe-wide EDI services. - Legal aspects: How the TEDIS programme has helped protect the EDI message itself and its security in an interlinked business environment. - Multi-sector and Europe-wide projects: The extent to which support for the launching of multi-sectoral pilot projects has contributed to the sectoral and geographical integration of EDI projects. - Management: The value of TEDIS studies and analyses, in particular concerning SMEs, to assess the impact of EDI on company management and its economic and social impact. - Information campaigns: The impact of measures, in particular concerning SMEs, taken under the TEDIS programme on the use of EDI in Western Europe. Projects are to start in September 1994 and to be completed by the end of 1995. Each applicant may submit one proposal or more. 100% funding will be provided for the selected projects.
