Commission approves State aid for R&D programme in German "Lander"
The European Commission has approved a German R&D State aid programme to support enterprises in the new "Lander" by providing financial resources for research and development projects ("Forderung von Produkterneuerungen bei gewerblichen Unternehmen in den neuen Bundeslandern"). The scheme, with a budget of ECU 37 million up to 1996, finances basic industrial research and applied research and development in the fields of informatics, biotechnology, and material research (chemistry). Projects carried out in the new "Lander" may receive 50% of the costs. If they are carried out by an SME, they may receive 60%.
