Commission authorizes State aid to SGS Thomson Microelectronics
The European Commission has authorized a French State aid research and development programme for SGS Thomson Microelectronics, one of the world's largest producers of semiconductors. The aim of the R&D programme is to increase the company's know-how in the field of semiconductor products, including all relevant techniques and architectures. The total cost of the research programme is ECU 1,260 million over four years. The aid intensity is 25.4% (ECU 321 million).
